Co Chairmen's Report for the RCC

Another very good year for the RCC.
Thanks to your continued membership we are able to raise £40,000 this year (the same as last year) for the benefit of the IiP Initiative.

The IiP programme is working well and your money is being put to good use.  Many of you will have seen the apprentices as they progress through their training and move on to their first professional jobs. So far we have had 5 trainee apprentice. The number required for the future is currently in the process of being reviewed i.e. how many are needed and when. The IiP also provides funds for the upskilling of the existing pros.

The following note from Chris Bray and Rob Fahey - the two senior pros, giving of their time and expertise to the IiP as volunteers, explain succinctly it’s progress since the beginning:
"As we enter a new phase, we can look with pride at the past eighteen months. Two IiP graduates (Jack Josephs, RTC and Alex Machin, now at Radley) are in full time employment. After passing his level one exam, Jim Ludekens (Cambridge) has gone travelling for six months and will return to the game in March 2023. Two trainees, Timmy Armstrong (Petworth) and Nathanial Cherry (Lords) are making good progress and are on course to gain accreditation at the end of the season.
At this juncture, it is important that we take stock to ensure that the programme is on course to deliver high quality professionals, who are a credit to the game, both on and off court"

Last year we had the inaugural dinner at the Queens club in the presence of our Honorary President HRH The Earl of Wessex and a full house where we presented a cheque for £40,000 for IiP to the T&RA.
We recently had a second successful dinner at Queens in October. Eighty six people attended including 5 world champions, all of whom are patrons of the RCC. The Highlight of the evening was undoubtedly the quiz with a  difference with the WC's as participants, brilliantly devised and moderated by Ben Ronaldson. This proved informative and very funny it was too!.

We also held our first mini tennis tournament at Hatfield House - (it was a modest fund raiser) - which was extremely successful and enjoyed by all who played. We intend to hold more tournaments at different clubs next year.
We thank you for your support so far and hope that you will continue on this worthwhile and essential journey with us, ensuring that the game we all love continues to thrive.
